Vintage Animal Print Jumpsuit
I don't blog often but when I do, you can bet it's to show off a fabulous thrift store jumpsuit. I only wore this yummy animal print once before it was quickly snatched up out of one of my online closets.

Vintage Denim Bib Overalls
I thought I was done with overalls after the black ASOS pair but these Liberty ones spoke to my vintage denim loving heart. I don't feel like I'm heading to Gymboree in this one. They have a close fit but it's not too tight. It shows off curves but in a casual and relaxed way.

Muumuu to Maxi Dress Refashion
You definitely should not make a habit of buying thrift store clothes that don't fit properly. Since I sell a lot of what I find, I don't try things on in the store anymore. I picked up a vintage muumuu dress in Palm Springs not knowing if it fit or not because it's fish fabric. You can't so no to a fish dress. I ended up having to downsize and refashion into a simple maxi dress.

Vintage Floral Duster Find That Makes Me Feel Like A Golden Girl
I am so in love with one of my latest thrift finds. I found a vintage floral duster while I was in Palm Springs. It's bright and colorful. Long and cozy. It's light enough for summer wear and keeps the air conditioner chill away. I wore it to brunch and felt like one of the Golden Girls in my pastel colored ensemble.
Besides the long length on the coat, I love the huge pockets that can hold all weekend essentials -- sunglasses and keys.

Top 10 Favorite Thrift Store Flips
There are some thrift store pieces that really capture my heart. Either I wanted them for myself and it wasn't a good fit for me or my lifestyle or I knew that someone else would love it and I must get it in that persons hands. The past month has been fruitful with fun little gems that also turned a decent profit on eBay, Poshmark, or Etsy. These are my recent favorites that found new homes.
1. The denim jumpsuit I thrifted in Florida. I wore it once and then it sold.

All Vintage in Safari Top and Jean Skirt
I've found that my clothes sell faster online when I wear them versus when I put them on the mannequin or laying flat. That's what inspired today's thrifted outfit. I usually wear the clothes that fit and and look good on me. I also treat it as a chance to play dress up in outfits that don't have a place in my lifestyle. Today's dress up is a vintage jean skirt. Love the style but it's a bit too small.
I've had it in my Poshmark closet for a year. I originally had it posted with a collage of button front denim skirt outfits found on Pinterest. I wanted to show how awesome and on trend this skirt could be. It got a lot of likes but hung out in the Posh closet through all of the seasons without any bites. I actually had three of the same style and two others that were button front flared that all sold. Obviously, I have a thing for jean skirts.

How to Upsize A Shirt Dress
I bought a shirt dress on Poshmark that was exactly the style that I turn to in summer. It's long. It's cotton. It's easy to throw on. Plus, it has pockets. The measurements seemed about right in the description so I took a chance on it. The chest and back area turned out to be too tight. That button at the chest could pop at any second and the one at the waist could go too if I eat a big meal. I made lemonade out of lemons with an easy upsize trick.

3 Ways to Refresh A Beat Up Thrift Store Jumpsuit
All the way back in 2012, I thrifted a vintage Egon von Furstenberg jumpsuit. He was the husband of Diane -- creator of the ultra flattering wrap dress. Egon was known as the Prince of High Fashion. This piece is one of those 80s polyester jumpsuit that were likely a dime a dozen back then. I wouldn't necessary call it 'high fashion' but it's pretty fabulous. Vintage jumpsuits are thrift store gold.
I like the vibrant yellow gold color of this one and it has pockets. Pockets are always a good idea. That's why I've held on to it for so long with very little actual wearing. I gave it a little perk up juice to get that one final wear before adding it to thethriftanista.shop.

Vintage Levi's From the Boys Rack
Levi's jeans are a classic. Over the thrift years, I've found that the vintage ones tend to fit a straighter less curvaceous body type. Which I am not. I have to go up at least two to get them over the hips. Then there's a huge gap at the waist. While checking the boys section for misplaced strays, I found a pair of Levi's that had a great crop length on my short legs. In addition to a nice cropped length, they have a good waist to hip ratio. Now I am a fan.

Top 10 Thrift Store Finds of 2018
Absolutely did not do a lot of blogging this year but I have spent more time in thrift stores. Adding some extra change to the pockets and helping people find their "it" has been my focus. Most of my favorites have sold. I had some 'le sigh hoarder' moments but I've learned to keep it moving. I can't keep it all and money is nice.
These were my absolute favorite thrift store finds of 2018:
The armadillo bag is definitely the uglies on my list. It's one of those vintage pieces that you just have to check off as having thrifted.

The Surprising Things I've Sold on eBay and Poshmark
I have been a little bit preoccupied with cleaning my closet and making some extra cash lately. Earlier this year, I started going hard on Poshmark. I stopped doing all other social media and put my time into snapping photos, writing descriptions, listing and sharing on Poshmark. It's such a temperamental and needy app. I burned out and I decided to hop back on to old faithful -- eBay. That set in motion a streak of sales that's kept me on the resell train for the past few months.
The things that are selling best for me are items I've already had in my closet. They weren't bought specifically to sell. Like most thrifters, I accumulate a lot of stuff. It's hard to leave a good find behind. I always think I can find someone who will want it. eBay and Poshmark are helping me find those people. I can wipe away the tears of losing some of my favorite thrift treasures with the money I have in hand.
Here's a peek at some of my recent sales. These are the one that I found most surprising.
Animal print stirrup catsuit
It never really left my closet since the initial try on. This is one of those items that I surely undervalued. It sold within an hour of listing. If you have 80s spandex in your closet doing nothing take it to eBay. They're a hot item.

Bright Pink Silk Thrift Store Find
I found a thrift store so good that I did not want to tell anyone about it. It was small, clean and fairly priced. There was a nice designer section that was higher priced but still way below retail. Most of it with tags still attached. I heard the thrift angels sing when I turned to leave the store and spotted a mannequin wearing this vibrant pink Amanda Uprichard top. I quickly removed it and added it to my pile.
